MONO.KULTUR #26 is a tribute to MANFRED EICHER from ECM RECORDS, the world's most influential and demanding jazz and classical label. Munich-based ECM RECORDS was founded in 1969 and has produced more than 1,000 albums, many of them by Manfred Eicher himself. ECM RECORDS, led by KEITH JARRETT, JAN GARBAREK and PAT METHENY, has continued to revive and promote the avant-garde of contemporary jazz.

This issue, which is expressed in black and white from the cover to the contents, is conducted in the form of an interview with Manfred Eicher. In 1984, he extended his ECM NEW SERIES to contemporary classical music, where he published a wonderful piece with Arvo Pärt and Steve Reich. MONO.KURTUR tells the story of his lofty and challenging conversations, from his bold release schedule, demanding production standards, and the label's aesthetics to sound and quiet silence.
